Cyclist Fundraiser


(Northbrook, Illinois, July 21, 2005) – The Ed Rudolph Northbrook Velodrome is proud to announce that Jonas Carney, the 2004 USPRO National Criterium Champion and Robbie Ventura, formerly of the U.S. Postal Service Pro Cycling will be on hand tonight in support of the David Young Night.  They will both address the audience prior to the races and watch the future of the U.S. track racing in the Ed Rudolph Championship Junior races sponsored by Chicago’s XXX Racing-AthletiCo.

The velodrome has dedicated this Thursday as David Young night and donations will be accepted for his prosthetics and rehabilitation.  David is a U23 cyclist and track rider from Kenosha, WI, who lost his leg in an accident last month. 

On-site registration for tonight’s events will take place from 5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.  Riders are advised that they must be registered prior to warming up.

Zipp, the official wheel of Thursday night racing will again be there.  Racers will have the opportunity to win a new Zipp 900 disk wheel by purchasing a raffle ticket ($5 each).  Participants may enter as often as they like increasing their chances of winning.
